Twisted Wick Candle Company was started in Jan of 2007 by Rich and Jodi Scheve. They began their operation out of their home in Greenwood, Indiana. Rich and Jodi both graduated from Purdue University in 2003. Jodi with a Management, Human Resources, and Management Information Systems degree and Rich with Psychology, Philosophy and Religious Studies.

They decided to start Twisted Wick with the goal of producing the perfect candle. They use soy wax which is the perfect substrate to blend their premium fragrance oils, then onto the wicks. One major challenge with most candles is the fact that they just do not burn level all the way down to the bottom of the container, which is a waste of money and resources. They came up with the "Twisted Wick" to elevate that problem and help produce the perfect burn. One other concern was what to do with the glass container once the candle has been burned. They choose to use a straight sided 14 ounce tumbler that makes the perfect drinking glass once the candle is use, they are also dishwasher safe.

They now had the perfect candle, ok, so now they needed a way to get them into peoples homes. They started with very small trade shows in early 2007 with fair success. Their website designed by local web designer Steve Pyatt, at Indy Web was the next big step. That website became the perfect sibling to the store the couple opened on June 22, 2007. There first full retail store was opened in Nashville, Indiana in the heart of Indiana. That little store in Brown County has been the backbone of their retail operation ever since. In January of 2008 they went looking for Wholesale business. Our first wholesale location was Circle City Basket Company located on Massachusetts Avenue in Indianapolis. The location took off and gave the Scheves a glimpse of what was to come. Their wholesale success has grown to included such names as Niki Bryan Spa's at Disney, Spa Terra in Southern California and the Paradies Shops in the Indianapolis and Atlanta International airports, as well as many other successful locations in the Indianapolis area.

The product line today has grown to 394 different products all still handmade by the Scheves. The current product line includes many spa products, all using only essential oils, with no artificial colors or fragrances. Their reed diffuser line, introduced at the Indianapolis Flower and Patio Show in 2007, have also received rave reviews.
